Family Guy is an American animated television series created by Seth MacFarlane for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series centers on the Griffins, a dysfunctional family consisting of parents Peter and Lois; their children Meg, Chris, and Stewie; and their anthropomorphic pet dog Brian. The show is set in the fictional city of Quahog, Rhode Island, and bases much of its humor on parodying American pop culture.

The series follows the everyday lives of a modern day American family, each with different backgrounds, as they are taped by a Dutch documentary crew, who is using them as the subject of a reality-based television series that will air in The Netherlands. The family is the Pritchett-Delgado-Dunphy clan. This extended family consists of patriach father Jay, his much younger Colombian-born second wife Gloria and their teenage son Manny, Jay's daughter (from his first marriage) Claire, her husband Phil and their three children, Jay's openly gay son Mitchell, his husband Cameron and their adopted baby girl from Vietnam, Lily. Each episode is expected to capture their complicated, yet normal settings during their taping.
