The Fight

A brutal murder leads the detectives into the dangerous world of MMA (mixed martial arts). The investigation leads to two brothers who confessed that they had to rape the victim to enter a gang. The case gets harder when the leader of the gang and prime suspect is accidentally crushed to death in a trash compactor and one of the brothers lies to protect the other.

Arnold is forced to deal with a bully at school; Mr. Drummond doesn't want him to fight, but Willis thinks fighting is the only option.

Bartender Doug gets Ted and Barney involved in a fight with guys sitting in the gang's favorite booth. They arrive after Doug has knocked out the guys, but take the credit anyway, earning the admiration of everyone except Marshall. But when Ted and Barney are sued by the losers, it's Marshall to the rescue. Lily struggles with two kids in her class who are also fighting.

An exhausted Alex works the night shift in the ER and assists a hockey star that had been attacked trying to prove his toughness. He refuses a CT scan, leading Alex to wonder if he is hiding something. The patient actually has brain trauma and is afraid the news will end his career. Also, a young victim of a gang shooting appears with Charlie in spirit form several times to learn he is going to die. The boy survives and Charlie wonders if it is also possible for his own return.

Michael has but one thing to do: sign a few dozen routine documents. To procrastinate, Michael makes Ryan update emergency contact information of the staff. When Michael gets Ryan's mobile phone number, he constantly prank calls Ryan with crude impersonations of Michael Jackson, Mike Tyson, and Saddam Hussein. Talk of Dwight's karate experience gets Michael's competitive juices flowing, leading to a lunchtime match between the two at Dwight's dojo. Jim goes too far flirting with Pam, and she abruptly shuts him down when their co-workers take notice. After a pathetic showing by both combatants, Michael emerges victorious over Dwight, which leads to Dwight changing his emergency contact from "Michael Scott" to "The Hospital". At the end of the day, Michael promotes Dwight from Assistant to the Regional Manager to Assistant Regional Manager, most likely to ensure that Dwight will still idolize him despite the hard feelings over their lunchtime battle. The rest of the staff, fed up with Michael's inability to accomplish even the simplest task, are forced to forge his signatures on the documents so they can go home. On the way out, Jim gives Pam a bag of chips. Pam quietly takes them and stares in a forgiving manner after Jim.
