Volkswagen Jetta Commercial

This commercial features a little boy dressed up in a full Darth Vader outfit - mask, robes, and all. He walks around the house trying to use "the Force" on things, but is getting frustrated because it's not working - he keeps raising and waving his hands to try to do things with his mind powers. First he tries to use the Force on his parent's exercise bike, then the family dog, the washing machine, and a baby doll. Even though he is wearing the Darth Vader mask, you can tell he is very frustrated. In the kitchen, he tried to move his lunch plate, but when his mom slides it over to him, it's worse than nothing happening at all. Finally, the child's father comes home in his new VW Passat. The boy goes out to try to work his magic on the car. After several tries, the car lights up and the engine starts. We see that the dad has pushed the remote start button on his key chain. The boy doesn't know that, so is completely amazed that his powers over the Force worked on something.

The Dog Strikes Back This Big Game commercial begins with a dog laying on a couch, a bright red car drives by, and the dog slowly gets up from the couch to go chase it. He gets to the doggie door, but can't fit through it because he is too fat. He gets sad and depressed looking at his big belly in the mirror, but decides to do something about it... exercise! He takes a red tennis ball and drops it down the stairs and chases after it, and then carries it back up and does it again, and again. Next we see him walking on the treadmill, and pulling weights stacked on a rug with his teeth. He watches a ball aerobics video and does the exercises along with it, followed by more weight training. Later we see him in the kitchen where his owner is making dinner and dropping food on the floor. He is keeping to a strict diet too, because he doesn't even touch the cut up hot dogs, or any of the food the baby drops. He runs laps in the yard outside all year (it goes from winter to summer), and even does laps in the pool. After shaking off the water, he looks in the mirror and gives himself an approving bark because he has lost so much weight. Next time the red Volkswagen Beetle drives by, he's not laying on the couch, and he immediately runs out the doggy door (which he fits through just fine now), jumps through the "V" in a tree and races the car down the block. This is the end of the "commercial", but then the camera zooms back and we see that it is an HDTV in the Star Wars Cantina Bar (aka, "Mos Eisley Cantina" or "Chalmun's Cantina") and the alien patrons are watching the commercial too. Some of the bar customers are arguing which was better - this year's dog commercial for the Beetle, or last year's "Vader Kid" commercial for the Passat. The alien guy with the big, crooked nose says the dog is much funnier than the child playing Vader when all of a sudden, he grabs his neck and can't breath. It turns out Darth Vader himself is in the bar and is upset that the guy doesn't think his commercial was as funny, and he's using the Force to choke him. Vader finally lets him go, and the guy apologizes. Back, and better than ever. Oh, that was great! I miss that Vader kid. The dog's better. Are you kidding, the dog is funnier than the Vader kid. The Bark Side This Super Bowl teaser commercial features the "Volkswagen canine choir" - 11 dogs barking the Imperial March song (Darth Vader's Theme) from the Star Wars movie series. The dogs are dressed up as characters from the series including Princess Leia, C-3P0, an Ewok, Darth Vader, Chewbacca (he even growls like Chewy), Yoda, and a Storm Trooper. Toward the end, another dog walks by dressed up as an AT-AT Walker. "VW CC Reveal" The commercial shows two parking garage attendents. The big guy (Graham Beckel) watching the security monitors punches the a guy with a goatee (Joseph Bertot) and says "Silver One" (playing PunchDub). The guy with the goatee says, "That's not a Volkswagen". They both continue watching the monitors until the Volkswagon CC gets up to their booth, and the show the VW symbol on the front of the car. The big guy then punches the guy twice for doubting. Big Guy: Silver one! (punch) Goatee Guy: That's not a Volkswagen. Big Guy: That's two for doubting. Goatee Guy: You hit like my sister. This commercial begins with a young boy in the 1970s. He is in a bike store looking at a new bike, and he asks the salesman, "Is it fast?" The salesman give a non-committal answer and tells him it has 10 speeds (i.e., a 10-speed bike). Fast forward a few years, and the boy - who is now a teen - is looking to upgrade. He's talking to a guy about buying his used moped. Again he asks, "Is it fast?" Again, he gets a vague response when the guy says, "It's got a lightning bolt." Jump a few more years in the future, and the guy is looking for a car. He sees a bright red Chevy Camero (possibly an Iroc Z) and again asks, "Is it fast?" This time he gets an obvious lie from the saleman who tells him that he doesn't even know if it's street legal. Flash forward one more time where the guy is looking at a VW Jetta. This time he's carrying a baby, so instead of asking, "Is it fast?", he asks, "Is it safe?". A much more trustworthy looking and sounding salesman says, "Oh yeah. It's a Volkswagen." Moonlighting The commercial opens with a man punching his time card. He is shown scrubbing the feet of a patient in a hospital who is in traction with a cast on his leg. As he works, he looks out the window, and stares at a billboard featuring the 2011 VW Jetta. Then the man is in the cafeteria, looking through the newspaper, where he finds a full-page advertisement for the all-new Jetta, and tears it out of the paper. He is then seen looking through the Classified section, where he circles a job that promises great pay. Next, the man is working at a golf driving range, collecting golf balls. As his cart is hit with a golf ball, he looks at the Jetta advertisement he tore from the paper, and smiles. Then we see this same man looking at a paper posted on a telephone poll that reads "Need some EXTRA CA$H? Part-time jobs, Pays big money, Call Roy" and he rips off a tag from the bottom of the ad. The next scene shows the man dressed in padded gear, working as the 'attacker' for a self-defense class, getting kicked and beat up by the women in the class. After the class, he is in the locker room, with pictures of the Jetta taped to the inside of his locker, as he sits on the bench and counts his money. Next, the same man is standing outside of a Volkswagen showroom, with his hands pressed against the glass, as he stares at the Jetta and watches a video playing in the background of the Jetta on the road. As the camera backs up, it is shown that he is working as a dog walker, with multiple dogs attached to him, pulling him away from the window. The man is also seen dressed as a giant hot dog, handing out fliers and dancing in front of Happy Dogs hot dog shop. He is peddling a rickshaw up a steep hill, painting his face in clown make-up to be a rodeo clown, posing nude for an art class, and then back to the hospital to the patient's room where the commercial first started. He looks out the window at the Jetta billboard, which is in the process of being changed. The new billboard reads "The all-new Jetta. $15,995". When he sees the price, his jaw drops, and he drops the bucket he's holding. As the bucket hits the floor, the camera pans out and the man is seen washing his brand new Jetta, that has a license plate that reads "MINE". The new black Jetta is parked next to a silver Jetta with a license plate that reads "MINE2". Backseat Dancer This commercial shows two men getting into the back seat of a VW Jetta. In an overhead view we see that there is lots of footroom for the men, and in fact they start doing a river dance (while sitting) because there is so much room. I like it. I do too. One for the money and a two for the show. I'm the bomb and I'm about to blow up. Best-in-Class rear legroom. The all-new Jetta. Surprisingly priced at $15,995. The all-new Jetta. Great. This commercial shows a man driving to a wedding. We see alternating shots of the bride (already at the church), and the man who is still driving to get there. He keeps having trouble such as getting behind someone driving slow with a big camper/trailer, or getting stopped at a train crossing, and is getting extremely frustrated that he is going to be late for the wedding. Finally, at the end we see it's not even his wedding, but he is in love with the bride (speak now or forever hold your peace).
