It's Valentine's Day in Newport, and everyone is preparing for the Valentine's singles benefit. Luke has a new crush, Marissa's mother Julie, and Jimmy finds out he has an admirer in the Cohen house. Sandy gives Seth some advice about going all the way with Summer, as their relationship reaches new levels and Theresa, an old flame of Ryan's, shows up in town, forcing Marissa to reveal her feelings for Ryan.

Luke is desperate to explain himself to Marissa, but Marissa is not ready to speak to him or her mother after finding out about their affair. But when Luke gets into a near-fatal accident, both Marissa and Ryan decide it's time to hear what he has to say. Meanwhile, it is opening night for The Lighthouse, but prior to opening Jimmy and Sandy are shocked to find out the liquor license has been denied, and Sandy is faced with the choice of the license or Jimmy as his partner. Caleb uses the occasion to surprise everyone when he proposes to Julie and Luke moves away to Portland to live with his father.

Reagan and Chris decide they need new couple friends, so they try to befriend their neighbors Justin (Ben Falcone) and Lawrence (Nat Faxon). Meanwhile, Ava continues to fight with Luke over her show. However, things end up getting a little bit more personal when Luke attempts to use Ava to make his ex-fiance jealous.

American Pop is a 1981 American animated musical drama film starring Ron Thompson and produced and directed by Ralph Bakshi.[1] The film tells the story of four generations of a Russian Jewish immigrant family of musicians whose careers parallel the history of American popular music. The majority of the film's animation was completed through rotoscoping, a process in which live actors are filmed and the subsequent footage is used for animators to draw over. However, the film also uses a variety of other mixed media including water colors, computer graphics, live-action shots, and archival footage.
