When we support small businesses, we support our communities.
Coogan’s Restaurant was the beating heart of Washington Heights. The neighborhood, as owner Peter Walsh recalled, “...was always electric. It was wonderful, it was vibrant and it was very international. We opened our doors and we embraced the neighborhood and got embraced back."
Every neighborhood has a Coogan's and nearly 45% of those businesses may not survive the next 3 months. If you need help, or can offer it, visit our hub at https://about.fb.com/supportsmallbusiness/
Features an old man who's restaurant is closing due to the pandemic. He is shown going out for a jog.
Coogan's is closing in 4 months
Watering hole that catered to so many, including the staff...
People came and they met and they felt comfortable. It's what we did with Coogan's. You felt safe, and if you were safe, you could be joyful, and if you were joyful you could really go home with the dream that you had.
Really really fun times.
You just end up there for hours.
It's like the heart of the community.
Coogan's is a special place for me.
Everybody has a Coogan's, and in the next 3 months almost half those small businesses, they could close if people don't do something. We have to keep our communities together. That's how we get through this.
(Lyrics)
Go on now, go, walk out the door, just turn around now
'Cause you're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one, who tried to hurt me with goodbye?
Did you think I'd crumble? Did you think I'd lay down and die?
I think I'll lay down and die
Oh, not I, I will survive
Oh, as long as I know how to love
