Pam trains a temporary worker to take her place while she is on maternity leave, and enlists Dwight's support when she tries to show that Jim finds her replacement attractive. Meanwhile, Robert surprises Andy, Kevin, and Darryl when he asks to join their band.

Christine tries not to have a meltdown when her ex-husband brings his "new" Christine with him to pick up Richie and take him to breakfast so that they can get to know one another. By day's end, Christine tries to pull herself together to make a good impression at parents' night at Ritchie's school, but is caught off guard when "new" Christine shows up as well.

A referee's deathbed confession leads the team to reopen a 1976 case in which an over-matched boxer died during a match that someone paid off to continue. The victim's girlfriend sees both him and her dead father. No one is arrested for this because it is proven that the victim unintentionally caused his own death.
